WATER CONSERVATION / RESTRICTIONS

Effective June 28th, 2006 a new Water Conservation ordinance was adopted.  There are 3 levels of water restrictions outlined in the ordinance. 

If any of them should ever go into effect a sign will be posted on Main Street and the Boyden Cable Channel will reference the type of restriction in place.

 

Text Box: WATER WATCH
All users are encouraged to limit or curtail all nonessential uses of water.
Restrictions
1.Outdoor watering or irrigation of lawns, flower and vegetable gardens are prohibited except as follows:
 ♦Customers with even house numbers will be allowed to use water for outside purposes on even numbered days between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.
 ♦Customers with odd house numbers will be allowed to use water for outside purposes on odd numbered days between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and  5:00 a.m.
 2. No water should be used to fill private swimming pools, children’s wading pools, reflecting pools or any other outdoor pool or pond.
 3. No water should be used to wash streets, parking lots, driveways, sidewalks or building exteriors.
 4. Car washing is prohibited except in commercial establishments that provide that service.

♦Customers may water on weekends only:
      •Friday evening from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. on Saturday morning; 
       •Saturday evening from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Sunday morning.
2. No water should be used to fill private swimming pools, children’s wading pools, reflecting pools or any other outdoor pool or pond.
3. No water should be used to wash streets, parking lots, driveways, sidewalks or building exteriors.
 4. Car washing is prohibited except in commercial establishments that provide that service.
 
 
 
2.  Saturday evening from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. on Sunday morning.
 
•No water should be used to fill private swimming pools, children’s wading pools, reflecting pools or any other outdoor pool or pond.

When a Water Emergency is declared all water users must comply with the following:
 1. Outdoor watering or irrigation of lawns, flower and vegetable gardens is prohibited.
 2. No water should be used to fill private swimming pools, children’s wading pools, reflecting pools or any other outdoor pool or pond.
 3. No water should be used to wash streets, parking lots, driveways, sidewalks or building exteriors.
 4. No water should be used for nonessential cleaning of commercial and industrial equipment, machinery and interior spaces.

First offense:                        Written notice of violation       
Second offense: $50 fine 
Third Offense:$100 fine
